Being presented as the Kansas entry into the
AACT Community Theatre Festival.
We are on the way.
Regional Festival is at the end of April. This
is the next step before the National Festival.
We still have not reached our goal. Your
support is needed and appreciated.
We can hardly believe it ourselves!! Our little theatre will be representing the
entire State of Kansas at the AACT Regional Community Theatre Festival.
We will be performing in front of and competing against community theatres
throughout the Midwest. But of course we need your help and support.
It is going to cost us about $5000 to do this. That covers transportation (gas),
lodging (hotel rooms for the cast), royalties and festival entrance fees. But
don't panic (we didn't). If only 500 people each gave $10, we would have it
made. And considering the population (even the theatre-going population of
Topeka) that isn't a lot of people. We frequently entertain about 200 or more
people per show that we do.
If you can find a little to spare, you will help us get there. But the turn around time
is fast. The Festival is coming up at the end of April (April 27-30). We need to
transport four actresses, one stage manager, one tech crew person and one
director to Brainerd, Minnesota and back (yep we want to come home
If you saw our 2016 season presentation of TWO FOR THE SHOW, you
would have seen the second act which was a one act play entitled "A Candle
on the Table." This moving dialogue between three senior ladies on their first
day in an "old folks home," was a humorous and touching drama. Our
original cast, with one replacement, will recreate this show for the judges of
the Region V Festival. If we would win, then we would advance to the national
festival, representing Kansas and the whole Midwest in competition with
other community theatres throughout the country.
This is the same festival that Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy won a
couple of times several years back. We would love to join their ranks and
again put Topeka's theatre arts community on the map.
To donate to our cause and help us represent Kansas you have several
- You can mail a check directly to ACT at PO Box 4287, Topeka KS 66604.
- You can donate directly to our campaign at our Go Fund Me page at www.
- you can drop a check or cash by the donation bucket that we will have at
The Enchanted Willow at 2209 SW Gage Blvd (across from the VA),
- You can check with us on a number of other fundraiser campaigns we may
have going over the month. One such event is a bake sale that the board
members of ACT will hold on the sidewalk in front of The Enchanted
Willow on Saturday, April 1. Drop off some cookies for us to sell or pick up
a sweet snack while supporting the theatre.
Remember every dime gets a a little closer to performance in Minnesota.
We look forward to representing you and thank you for your continued support.
